4:51.38

Does this camera make me look fast? (That's me in the yellow)

4:51.38. That's all I had. After a long 2 days at the BYU High School Indoor meet in Provo they let the coaches lace them up and test their speed on the 5-laps to the mile Mondo-X track in the Smith Fieldhouse. I always enjoy a change of pace and 1600 meters is pretty much red-lining it for me anymore. Last year the record holder paced his wife and I won with a measly 5:04. This year, despite Corbin's sandbagging I knew that it would take a much faster race to defend my title. I didn't get a very clean start so I used too much energy on the first lap before settling into the race. I continued to close on second place but wasn't able to catch him. The winner ran 4:39. I'm way ahead of where I was at this time last year and if I can recover well from the Moab Red Hot 50k+, I'll have a good shot at breaking 4:40 a week later at the Simplot Games.

nice work Ty, I am pretty stoked to catch up at Red Hot and then spectate the next speedy mile at Simplot.

It will be fun. How is the injury? Are you running 50k or 33k?

the achilles seems to be coming around a little slow, planning on the 50k but not ruling out dropping down to the 33 if the achilles isn't quite there. I pretty much have pulled out all the big guns to rehab it. Keeping fingers crossed for sure.

Attaboy, Ty! 5 laps for an indoor mile? That's bigger than Idaho's indoor track.

I hope you rip it up at Simplot!

Sean,

we'll see. It will be just 1 week after Moab Red Hot, 34 miles this early is going to blow me up. It will be fun to see what I can do on the boards at Holt Arena.
